The Application Test Suite is a Parlay / OSA gateway simulator. It contains the following components:
In combination they produce a single testing tool capable of testing your Parlay/OSA applications to
their limits. With the Console as the central control point, every other software component is controlled by a
click of the mouse.
What is it?
The Application Test Suite is a Parlay/OSA Gateway Simulator. Hardware is expensive and companies can rarely
afford to provide every developer with their own dedicated network environment to allow them to develop and test their new OSA/Parlay applications.
The process of testing and validating telecommunications applications can take a long time and forms a sizeable proportion of the cost of a
development project. Application developers need a way of reducing both their time-to-market and their costs, and Enterprise/Gateway/Network
Operators need a way of validating applications before deploying them. An application’s behaviour in both normal and erroneous conditions
within the network must be known before deployment. For any carrier class application, you must be able to prove all the characteristics of
a telecom carrier grade system – providing fault tolerance, and scalability for supporting millions of subscribers.
The Open API Solutions Application Test Suite (ATS) provides for the easy, rapid and cost-effective development of
Parlay/OSA applications and enables enterprise operators and gateway operators to test the behaviour of an application
before deploying it on a gateway.
Why a gateway simulator?
Imagine being able to develop a new service in your chosen IDE and then click a few more buttons to test
that same application right there on your desktop computer ...
Key Benefits:
- Network Testing without hardware
- Cross Platform (Windows, Solaris, Linux)
- Vendor independent
The ATS models the core elements of a communications network, allowing a user to modify the system behaviour
at will, thus allowing the testing of conditions which would prove difficult to recreate in the network without
incurring huge costs. A simple example is performance testing of an application.

Network Emulator
The network emulator component forms the core of the ATS and can be configured to emulate mobile or fixed networks.
The network is fully configurable to appropriately mimic real network behaviour.
Key Benefits include:
- Graphical environment for network control
- Fixed and mobile network simulation
- Highly configurable network including:
- Messaging types and behaviour
- Coordinate systems for mobility testing
- Emergency services provisioning
- Announcement provisioning
- Integrated billing system
Auto Test Driver
The Auto Test Driver (ATD) can be used to drive the network emulator component (and therefore the services) enabling
you to reproduce network conditions to perform automated and load testing.
With the ability to automatically generate thousands of calls on the Network Emulator component, think how much testing
could be completed without ever needing to power on a real piece of test hardware ...
Key Benefits include:
- Graphical editing system for test scenarios
- Test scenarios can be saved out and reloaded
- Rerun individual or groups of tests at the click of a button with immediate success/failure feedback
- Completely automated test scripts
- Group tests to simulate realistic network loads
